Laura is 22 years old and studying a Bachelor of Agriculture at the University of New England and a Bachelor of Secondary Education - Personal Development, Health and Physical Education/ Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Canberra

Laura is actively involved in many sporting groups within Goulburn and surrounds, including rugby league, rugby union, swimming and triathlons. She enjoys exhibiting alpacas, horses and cattle at local and royal shows, as well as competing in many youth programs such as parader and young judges. She also enjoys shearing alpacas which has provided her with the opportunity to complete as the first female at the Performance Alpaca Shearing Competition at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Laura has also competed in the Young Farmers Challenge at Goulburn Show and in the State Final at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Within the community, she enjoys volunteering at nursing homes, disability homes and at pre-schools and childcare centres. With the assistance of her animals her goal is to bring joy and education to those she visits. Laura convenes many alpaca youth programs, such as parader and junior judging events, as a fun and educational way for the youth to engage in rural activities, become more informed, see what it is all about and hopefully pursue an interest in the field.

Laura's ultimate goal once she has graduated university is to educate students in city, regional and remote areas on the importance of all aspects of agriculture, the role it plays within Australia and as well as globally and how they can become involved and make a positive difference within their local community

Laura entered the showgirl competition for a number of reasons. Firstly it has been a dream since she was young as she always saw the previous showgirls as strong and positive role models and advocates for women in agriculture and that they were always willing to step out of their comfort zone and continue to better themselves in every aspect. Secondly she would love to be an ambassador for Goulburn and our show society as well as an ambassador for both women and youth in agriculture. She would also continue to update the wider community on our town, the agricultural opportunities within our community and the ways they can become involved.
